As an auditor, you will encounter this guy – someone who just does not want to listen to what you are saying. Remember that some people have real difficulty hearing criticism of the programs that they’ve helped to develop. Or maybe they’ve authored the programs completely by themselves.
As an auditor, sometimes you have to tell someone that their baby, this program that they’ve personally developed, is ugly.
Sometimes really, really ugly.
And by the time you are done, it’s your task to make sure that they agree with you! In order to move ahead and make the changes that we need, everyone needs to understand the limitations of their programs – and commit to the hard work needed to improve them.
Credit to Bill Pursley – Retired, Vice President, Food Safety Education, AIB International – for the Ugly Baby analogy.
